We feel it’s important to be part of the local community and to give back when we can… so here are some of the things we do within our community.
In the coffee shop and roastery we try to reduce our waste and recycle as much as we can. For our local roastery customers we use reusable tubs to deliver their coffee. Our retail bags are also recyclable.
When purchasing coffee, it is so important to us that farmers are being paid fair prices, which allows them be able to continue to grow their business, provide more jobs and help their communities. The green suppliers we work ensure that this happens.
The Ginger Monkey team are taking part in the Eco Community’s pledge to reduce single use coffee cups.
We get our milk delivered in glass bottles from the dairy, who collect them and clean then reuse for our next order.
We also pledge to buy no more single use plastic drinks bottles.

Here at Ginger Monkey we are incredibly proud to call this village home, but as we go about our daily roasting and brewing, we’ve noticed that some of our favourite local green spaces—specifically around Christleton Road Car Park and Sandy Lane Park—have been struggling with an increase in litter lately. We believe that as a local business, it is our responsibility to lead the way in preserving the beauty of our surroundings, but we can’t do it alone. We’re inviting our neighbours, friends and fellow coffee lovers to join us in a collective effort to tackle this issue and keep our community’s streets and parks pristine for everyone to enjoy.
The Kit: Stop by the café to borrow a professional litter picker and a collection bag.
The Treat: Return your equipment with a full bag of rubbish and we’ll reward your hard work with a complimentary cake or hot drink.
As another way to try and reduce our waste we giving away our used coffee grounds to anyone who would like them!
What can you use coffee grounds for?
There are many other uses too!
Come with a container and collect as much as you need. The bin is just by our courtyard entrance. Let us know how you will use yours…

As a team we are proud participants in the Sustainable Palm Oil City Project right here in Chester. We recognise that our local choices have a global impact, which is why we have worked closely with our suppliers to ensure that whenever palm oil is present in our food, it is sourced exclusively from certified sustainable sources.
To maintain these high standards, we conduct annual supplier audits to verify that our ingredients meet our ethical requirements. By committing to these practices, we know we are helping to protect precious wildlife and ecosystems around the world from the devastating impact of unsustainable agriculture.

We are proud to support the vital work of the Countess of Chester Hospital through our dedicated yearly fundraising efforts. As a local business, we recognise the incredible role the hospital plays in our community, and we are committed to helping them provide the best possible care for our neighbors and families.
A highlight of our charity calendar is getting involved in their ‘Big Tea’ fundraising events. Whether we are brewing up support or raising funds in-shop, we love seeing our customers come together to contribute to such a meaningful cause. Every penny raised goes toward supporting the hospital’s essential services and local healthcare initiatives.
